Gibsonville is a town of 8,971 people (2020) in Alamance and Guilford counties, known as the City of Roses. Its downtown kept many of its brick commercial buildings from the railroad era.
What that means for your AC
Gibsonville has an older town center and growing subdivisions. AC repairs, heat pump replacements and tune-ups are common; see AC repair. Older homes near the rail line often have crawl spaces with aging ducts. Burlington and Elon's campus are minutes away, and many residents commute east rather than west.
Two counties
The eastern part of town is in the Burlington metro area, while most of it belongs to the Greensboro area. Elon University sits just to the east, and student rentals spill over into the area.
Gibson Station
Joseph Gibson provided grading for the new North Carolina Railroad in 1851, and when the first train arrived on October 9, 1855, the depot was named Gibson Station. The town was chartered on February 18, 1871, and gold was once mined on Gibson Hill. Older homes here benefit from duct sealing; see ductwork and crawl spaces. Rose gardens around town give it its nickname and a lot of spring pollen.
